The Cheese Route

The Cheese Route

The Belluno Dolomites Cheese and Flavours Route is a themed itinerary created with the aim of promoting local products, especially cheeses, made by artisan producers and often little known to passing tourists. As a part of this itinerary, Sport Hotel uses local dairy products to prepare typical dishes, themed menus and mountain specialities that we serve to our guests.

The Cheese Route includes a large number of local producers and restaurateurs who have formed a close network of partnerships, laying the foundations for a true gastronomic tour of our province. As an essential part of this project, Sport Hotel is always available to present the various steps of the itinerary.

Producing alpine pastures

The Cheese Route itinerary has been organised into four main categories: traditional cheeses recognised by Ministerial Decree 350/99, organic cheeses from Cansiglio, Slow Food Presidia products and other local cheese products. The cheeses are presented with data sheets containing a wealth of information, including their place of production, techniques used, flavour, fragrance and anything else that can help promote a better understanding of their characteristics and history. These gastronomic delights are often accompanied by a host of tips to help you prepare excellent traditional Belluno dishes and bring a "piece" of the Dolomites into your own home to share with friends and family. These fact sheets also include information on local shepherd's cottages and dairies, on the restaurateurs taking part in the project and on the many places to visit and discover, rich in both natural and historical wonders.
