Masquerade of St. Apollonia

Among the summer and winter events in Padola and the surrounding area not to be missed is our traditional carnival, known as the "maskarada," held between Epiphany and Ash Wednesday. The Comelico Superiore carnival is a centuries-old tradition, lost in the surrounding areas following attempts to suppress it after the Council of Trent, but still strong and important in the hamlet of Dosoledo, a short distance from Padola. During the celebrations, in addition to masked celebrations, you can spend joyful moments dancing the night away along the streets to the sounds of accordion, double bass, violins, and guitar. The masquerade of Saint Apollonia falls on the Sunday closest to February 9th. Don't miss it!
